Hollow Lumber-presented by A Quilter's Lumberyard, Saturday, September 14th, 12pm - 5pm
SKU as configured
Pre-requisites: None, although familiarity with Quilter’s Lumberyard® Intro & Quilt Gallery plus Construction Zone Workshop is helpful.
One of the best-known three-dimensional quilt designs – the tumbling block – has an old-fashioned charm and an incredible impact. Selecting fabrics with careful attention to VALUE, a sometimes elusive concept of darkness and lightness, is the most important skill in creating the illusion of depth in a tumbling block design. Tumbling blocks with a more modern approach give the impression you can peek inside and provide another element in skill development. In this class you will:
• identify how light, medium, and dark values create the geometric effect of a “lumberyard” tumbling block, both inside and outside of the tumbling block.
• choose a project from several options.
• use “raw lumber” – 2 ½” and 1 ¼” strips to construct “hollow” tumbling blocks”
