Pre-Requisite: A Quilter’s Lumberyard® Introduction & Quilt Gallery
The Program Introduction and Quilt Gallery highlight the Quilter’s Lumberyard® scrap management system’s overall range of possibilities. In the first part of this 6-hour Construction Zone Workshop we will focus on the basic nuts and bolts of the system. Using only four sizes of squares and rectangles you can build blocks that provide multiple options for color, value, or specific fabric placement. The second part of the workshop goes beyond the basics, adding “trusses” to those same four lumberyard pieces, creating a wide range of diagonal design opportunities.
In this class you will:
• discuss cutting and organizing your fabric scraps into “lumber”.
• use graph paper to design your own quilt “blueprint”.
• calculate fabric needs.
• learn to package your cut fabric in convenient project bags.
• construct several 8-inch “lumberyard” blocks, basic and beyond.
You will need to purchase "A Quilter's Lumberyard Ladders" pattern for this class.
