Biography:
I wanted to leave our children something that they would treasure, something they knew was made
with love and care. So when Alex Anderson suggested to me that I make them each a quilt, I knew
that would be the perfect gift. Her suggestion could not have come at a better time as we were
relocating from the Bay Area in California to Sunriver. Who would have known that from my first
quilt class at In Between Stitches in Livermore, California that I would be where I am now -
sharing my passion for quilting and making new friends and quilting memories along the way. I
teach beginning quilting, paper piecing, machine quilting, purse and bag classes, and watercolor
quilts. I belong to several quilt guilds and enjoy teaching in our local community as well as
Arizona and Palm Springs and am a huge supporter of Project Linus. In between my quilt making,
I usually have a bag or two on my design board as well….There are so many fun projects that
revolve around our passion for quilting that I always encourage everyone to keep trying new
projects, learning new techniques, and making new friends in our amazing community of quilters. I
look forward to quilting with you and seeing the sparkle in your eye when you master a new
technique, learn a new skill, or complete your quilting project.

Norma Wells-Huppert is a transplanted Texan and Californian who has been teaching quilting and
garment-making for many years. She has a great sense of color and specializes in paper-piecing and machine
appliqué. Most of her quilts are made with brights and black, animals or animal fabrics, and black and whites,
with contrast, contrast, contrast. One of her double wedding rings (paper-pieced) won Best of Show in a small
show in the San Diego area.
Her favorite designers are Sue Garman, Judy Niemeyer, Sue Olsen, Tony Whitney, Lynda Milligan, Nancy
Smith, and African quilt artists Jenny Williamson and Pat Parker.

Elisa Wilson, owner of Elisa's Backporch Design in Kalispell, Montana.
I began quilting the traditional way by hand piecing and hand quilting everything. I soon realized that
if I wanted to complete all of the projects I had in mind that I would need to use the machine more.
Gradually I began to fall in love with color and progressed into hand dyeing fabric. I opened a
business and hand dyed thousands of yards of fabric and sold them around the country. The business
soon progressed into designing patterns and acrylic templates. Curved piecing became my specialty
along with simple methods that allow beginners to sew curves together and lose their fear of curves. I
have been on Kay's Friends, America Quilts and QNNTV. I have published three books on curves
and dozens of patterns. My style is a bit eclectic, but batiks are my favorite. Crazy Curves quilts are
a favorite and I can show you how easy it is to complete one.

Linda Ballard
Being an avid sewer all her life, Linda has taken her skills from dressmaking to creating wonderful traditional quilts
using today’s faster techniques and tools. She believes there’s always something for everyone when it comes to
quilting, and that quilters have a strong bond unlike anything else.
She lives in northern CA outside Redding in a country community called Palo Cedro, where she raised her 2 children
and still resides with husband Dave. Linda was a quilt shop owner in Redding and now travels throughout the country
teaching both on land and sea. She has a fondness for quilt shops, but loves to teach at Quilt Festival, conferences,
cruises, quilt guilds and camps. She says ‘anyplace and anytime, she’s ready'!
Stephanie Brandenburg
Stephanie Brandenburg earned her BA in History from Coe College. She began floral design with dried
everlastings at Fern Hill to work her way through college. She fell in love with design and has used every client
request as an opportunity to learn and grow in design. Her early floral work was featured in Floral and Nature
Craft Magazine (a former publication of Meredith Corporation). She remained with Fern Hill and became the
Creative Director. This allows her to create everyday! Architectural Antiques, Home Decor, Quilt Design and
now Fabric Design. Her innovation is endless and crosses over any decor. Her first line of quilting fabric - Iris -
was released in October 2006 with Camelot Cottons and is one of many lines Stephanie has created. It is a
dramatic, bold use of texture and color! All fabrics feature a flower in the garden.
I am a self-taught artist and have studied and worked with many different mediums, from pencil drawing to
clay sculpture. None have influenced my creativity more than working with textiles. I started my journey
into art quilting in 2005 and haven't looked back since. I am always trying to push my imagination to create
my best work. When I decided to enter into competition quilt shows, I found the challenge a turning point
for my art. I was motivated to define my artistic style and refine my techniques. My goal is to promote
quilting as a viable and valuable art form.
Currently, I teach art quilting classes focused on embellishment techniques. I love to encourage others to
explore their own creativity. From my original designs, I have produced a line of art quilt patterns. I do
commission work as well and have found the experience very rewarding.
I reside in Bend, Oregon with my husband and three wonderful children. I am inspired by nature and the
beauty found in God's creation. I love the world of quilting and find "Painting Life with Fabric" to be a
wonderful way to express myself.
