Linda has been teaching during Festival for us all 10 years I've been here, and prior as well - she is the queen of mysteries!!

Lavelle comes to us with experience in working with Annie Unrein in the past,
and so learned from the best in terms of making bags!!

Sewing has been a passion of mine since I was 8 years old when my Mom sat me down to make my first skirt. Sewing school clothes and onto wedding dresses, my own and my daughters' and even my daughter-in-law's was just the beginning. I live in the Bend area now and just recently came to call it home. When I moved in 1983 to a little town, Gustavus, Alaska I met Annie Unrein of byannie.com, where she was an Innkeeper. I worked for her at the Inn for several years.I fell in love with quilting when the women of our small community got together to make a quilt to raffle off to tourists in order to raise money for the needed firehall and community buildings. My most vivid memory of that time, was sitting around on the floor of Annie's Inn, piecing and then quilting the community quilt.
As time would have it, we both moved away to different parts of the country; but two years ago, we reconnected. I have been working with her, learning the benefits and uses of her signature product, Soft and Stable and continue to assist her at quilt shows and Market. It's been exciting to take sewing in another direction with this amazing stabilizer; making professional looking bags, organizers and home decor.

In this class, students will learn to use Derwent's Inktense blocks and pencils to create a dry watercolor image. Using water and fabric medium, we will then transform the dry image into a permanent watercolor. Suitable for creating backgrounds, applique cutouts, personalized fabric, or complete images, this method is simple and accessible. Swan takes the fear out of fabric painting and allows the artist in every quilter to surface with this simple technique.

Inktense pencils and blocks, as well as fabric medium will be available for students to use in class. Kits available for purchase.
Cost: $25.00
