A mystery?—What better way to begin Festival 2006 than a mystery quilt. The pattern is template free and uses speed methods throughout. Choose three fabrics or look to your stash for the scrappy version. You’ll love Linda’s easy methods and the results are always wonderful. This one is easy to increase the size. Guaranteed fun. And don’t forget to join us for lunch.

This pattern utilizes 12” blocks set with a pieced sashing. The blocks consist of many components, with speed methods used. High contrast will show off all the stars. There are several sizes to choose from.

From Quilt in a Day Publications, this sampler pattern of thirteen different vintage blocks uses scraps and fat quarters with a controlled background. Use a “tower” fabric collection, theme fabrics, 30’s reproduction prints, etc. to achieve a distinctive look. Lots of tips and piecing tricks will be learned along the way. All levels of quilters will be able to successfully complete this fun queen-size design.

Get an introduction to hand appliqué, Baltimore Style, using one of Jean’s original patterns. Although the quilt design shows four differing patterns, only one will be worked on during class. Learn appliqué techniques, making templates, wines, leaves and flowers, and several embroidery embellishments by hand or machine. This is a class to learn to be passionate about handwork. This class is for anyone/everyone wanting to learn hand work.

Using a wall-quilt design from Carol’s newest book “Simply Sensational 9-Patch Stars”, begin paper-piecing this 36” wall quilt using simple foundations to create dramatic 9-patch star blocks that produce a striking medallion style quilt. Learn paper piecing tricks that produce speed, accuracy, and most of all, learn to enjoy the process.

This wonderful vintage style watercolor quilt is an original by Pam. It combines “Squares” with nine patches topped off with wonderful old cabbage-style roses in broderie perse appliqué. You, too, can be creative with stash fabrics for this small wall quilt, or make larger as desired. There are several variations of this theme including a Christmas tree.

Do you know how to choose blocks, draw your own blocks, color them, set them into your design, rotate, change, export and print them, create straight and pieced borders? These are just a few steps you’ll learn in this workshop designed to help you navigate this fabulous software. Have the software loaded onto your computer and let’s get started together.

Leaves and blossoms swirl through an open window; flowering branches wander in. These quilts are fun, easy to make and celebrate the beauties of nature. In this workshop, create your own window in aM08U08GardenWindowQuilts.jpg (69454 bytes) seasonal garden of your choice with piecing and appliqué by hand or machine techniques. The finished size, though small, will vary according to the number of windows. There will be several patterns for leaves, branches and flowers supplied in class. Let Helene guide you through fabric choices, color and techniques. Patterns may be purchased by those not wishing to design their own “windows” quilt.
